If you want a great trip back in time - Dot's is the place. We just returned from our second stay. It couldn't have been more perfect---the staff--- the location---the amenities. We had a great time.
Walking into Dot’s Beachside Bungalow is like walking back in time to my first Oregon Beach vacation. It was 1963 and the time was blissful, peaceful, and even tranquil. I recall the smiles on people’s faces and my mom scurrying about readying the late lunch we were all complaining at her for. And how when we walked into the house, she stopped everything and walked over to the picture windows overlooking the pacific and the beatific smile that graced her ageless face. I stood beside her and for a moment in time, we stood side by side looking into the vast sea before us, the white caps, the curling waves, the circling gulls, and time stood still. The beach felt different this time from the other couple of dozen stays I have stayed along the Northern Oregon Coast in my lifetime. It felt like I was arriving home at long last. And as I walked in I found myself drawn to the large picture windows overlooking the sea and there I lost myself for a time in both memory and realization that this was a very special place indeed. If you want fancy, this is not your destination. If you fancy comfort and a great location where you can spend a very secluded time with someone you love or the family you adore, this is the spot.I recommend this kitchen, you can cook here. I recommend this living area, you can laugh and dream here. I recommend this bedroom, you can love and sleep the sleep of the just here…But then, this is just one man’s opinion, colored a little by the fact that he has spent many hours on the coast, none any finer than this last stay. So, if you choose to not heed my words, that is fine, maybe I can find Dot’s available whenever I wish it to be that way.
Amazing tide pools.
we had a wonderful time!! i already mentioned about not enjoying the high hedge bush that obstructed the view of the ocean whenever we peered out from the living room, but besides that we loved it! great location too. we loved this portion of the beach. we will come back next year and will definitely use Arch Cape Rentals again. Thanks for everything!
Dear Kristin, Thanks for sharing your comments and review. We are working on having the landscaper cut the hedge down lower to provide a better view for our guests. This is the time of year when all landscapers in the area are running circles to maintain their accounts, as vegatation in this area grows very quickly. Just to let you know however, that it's being taken care of ASAP. So glad you enjoyed your stay and we'll welcome your return in the future. Sincerely, Debbie & Staff
Everything was great about this home. It was cute, clean, personal and well organized. Really appreciated little notes posted to guide us through the idiosyncracies of the place. The hot tub was a great addition. The fireplace was wonderful - big, great draw, nice wood pile, loved it. A few comments for improvement: hot tub instructions might be helpful; kitchen needed a few things like a tea strainer or a real tea pot with built in strainer; a small stove pot (only 2 big ones there); a larger non-stick frying pan and/or sauce pan; a couple mixing bowls and/or salad bowl; a good door mat for the back door. Thank you!
Location was great but the hedge blocked most of the ocean view. If the hedge was gone, the view would be spectacular! Having cable TV would be nice, to watch morning news and see a weather report. Other than that, the place was extremely clean and spacious enough for our needs.
Beatiful view! Wonderful low tide allowed for fantastic walking on the beach at dusk! Hot tub nice but suggest the neighbors be asked to turn their 24 hour outdoor light (they weren't even there) off at night - shined directly on the hot tub.
This is such a cute little bungalow! The house was the perfect size for our family of four and had a great location only a short beach walk away from Hug Point. We loved the vintage feel of this little 40's home, but this house would not be for someone who wants everything new and perfect. The living room is a great size for a small home and even though there is no cable TV, there are lots of great videos to choose from for a cozy night in.The location couldn't be better--just steps from the beach--but for anyone not familiar with Arch Cape you have to be aware of the rocks that you have to climb over to get to the beach. There is a big "dune" of fist-size rocks that stands between the houses and the sand. It can be a bit treacherous for older people or littl3e ones, our 2 and four year old were able to get down with only a little help, so was my 62 year old mom.
The cottage was well equipped with new appliances and bath fixtures. With no TV it would be nice to have a DVD although they had many VHS videos to watch. The view of the beach was hampered by the hedge. The east patio was a delight!
